Mayor ready for clean-up campaign

During a briefing at the Floreat Hall at the Bram Fischer Building in Bloemfontein this morning Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, requested all stakeholders present to work together in ensuring that today’s clean-up project in the city is a success.
The Mayor also asked for unity following the recent strike, and also called on the media present to refrain from giving false reports that will cause division among the workers and the municipality, but rather focus on the collaborative efforts by all the stakeholders.
Mlamleli said she too will be among those working as she has her gloves and walking shoes ready for the work that needs to be done in the city.
“I am not here to watch you as your Mayor, but I am ahere to lend a helping hand and contribute to this project here today,” she said.
Employees of the municipality and other parastatals, such as the Expanded Public Works Programme and the South African Revenue Services (SARS), will participate in the clean-up project, while the Free State Department of Traffic will coordinate traffic as the masses walk throughout the city’s roads.
Participants will be split up into five teams, which will all clean different parts of the Central Business District in Bloemfontein. – Pulane Choane
