The event is set to start at 08:00 with the MEC of Education, Tate Makgoe, giving the media a breakdown of the results. This will be followed by a prize-giving ceremony for the top 100 learners and schools that obtained a 100% pass rate.
Makgoe says he is confident that the province will obtain a 90% pass rate and 40% bachelor passes this year. He urges that the learners should check their results at schools and not depend on any other unreliable source.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, will today release a full report on the national performance in the matric exam of 2019. In the year 2018, the Free State obtained an 87.5% pass rate and 31% bachelor passes, positioning it second nationally. The matric results for individuals are due to be released by midnight today.
