Owen Kock

Bloemfontein. – The Matric Final Examination kicked off without a hitch today in central South Africa.

More than 700 000 learners nationwide are sitting for this year’s National Senior Certificate examination, with basic education minister Angie Motshekga anticipating great improvement from last year’s results. In North West and the Northern Cape, education spokesmen Brian Setswanbung and Sydney Stander say they are happy with how this morning’s English Language papers went down.

During his visit to the Lekhulong Senior Secondary school in Rocklands this morning, Free State MEC Tate Makgoe said he is confident the province will this year obtain an 85% pass rate.
