Maths and Science Whiz kids to receive Awards

About 43 learners who obtained 80 – 100 % pass rate in Maths and Physics from Qwa – Qwa in Thabo Mofutsanyane District will be recognized for the best performance and awarded certificates and trophies. The Award ceremony will take place on Friday, 24 January 2014 at Beacon High School.
Learners’ best performance is the results of a fruitful partnership between the Free State Department of Education, Investec and Kutlwanong Centre for Maths, Science and Technology whereby they were offered extra classes over the weekends and during school holidays through the Pro – Maths Programme.
The Pro Maths programme is an initiative which identifies learners from historically disadvantaged schools with the aim of improving their performance in maths and science.
This is the third group of learners to receive awards since the inception of the Pro- Maths programme in 2009.
