South African travelers to Lesotho via the Maseru border post at Ladybrand in the Free State are advised to use alternative border posts.
This comes after the Maseru border post has been closed for traffic since ten o’clock last night. It is the second time this month blockages on the Lesotho side of the border has seen closure to the post.
Coordinator of the Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee (BCOCC), Lieb Venter, says the Lesotho Taxi Owners are once again involved.
Venter says the situation is being addressed on high level by officials from South Africa and Lesotho.
People are allowed to cross the post on foot, but motorists are advised to use the Peka Bridge, Ficksburg and Wepener border posts as an alternative.
