All but Manyoni suggested as ANC FS leadership

Everyone except for Thabo Manyoni, current deputy chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State, has been put forth as a potential candidate for the party’s elective conference which will be held in August this year.

The ANC Secretary in the Motheo region, Paseka Nompondo, announced that the party would like Ace Magashule, who serves as the provincial chairperson, William Bulwana, who is the provincial secretary, as well as Mosebenzi Zwane, who is serving as the provincial treasurer to all, to remain in their current positions.

Following Nompondo’s announcement, deputy secretary of the party in the region, Lulama-Titi, then announced the names that were agreed upon in the Regional General Conference (RGC) which were as follows:  Nompondo will replace Mayoni as the party’s deputy chairperson, while Mamikie Qabethe will also remain the party’s deputy secretary.

Speaking of the candidates which will be added to the party’s party Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), Titi named Mapaseka Nkoane, who serves as the provincial chairperson of the Women’s League, Mxolisi Siyonzana, who is the Speaker at the Municipal Offices in Mangaung, and Thembeni Ngcakisa, who is the ANC’s provincial organiser.

“I just also want to add that we will retain the comrades in our region that were serving in the PEC. These are comrade Pitsane, Lucy Mapena, Tate Makgoe and others,“ Titi said.  She added that more of these delegates will be announced at a later stage.

“These names are not official nominations but rather views of the party, which the branches of Mangaung will support. Official nominations will be released to the public sometime in July,” Nompondo said.

These announcements were made on Sunday, which was the last day of the party’s two-day regional conference which was held at Black Mountain resort in Thaba Nchu.

Among other items that were discussed at the event were the state of Mangaung’s readiness leading to the National Policy Conference as well as the state of membership in the region.
