The Directorate for the Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) in Bloemfontein together with the Parkweg police initiated an extensive manhunt for a dangerous suspect who escaped from the lawful custody yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

The suspect known as Tsietsi Joseph Bereng, aged 46, was to stand trial after he had shot and killed a police constable in Mangaung early this year. The deceased was working at the Provincial Tracing Task Team.

The suspect is considered dangerous and aggressive. The members of public are warned not to confront him but to contact the police when they spot him somewhere. He is approximately 1.6m tall and well built.
