Residents of the Mangaung Metro have been warned to take extra caution as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a level 5 impact-based warning for disruptive rain in Mangaung and other parts of the province.
According to a statement by the Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM), the rainfall is expected to continue into the evening and road users are requested to take extra caution.
Tips for road users:
- Reduce speed
- Switch on your headlights
- Pedestrians should be careful when crossing the road
- Avoid crossing rivers and streams where water is above your ankles
MMM also urges that all households should make pathways to allow water to flow out of their yards. The MMM and the provincial disaster management teams are on high alert and have started assisting affected residents of Caleb Motshabi (Dinaweng) with plastic sheeting.

Members of the community may also contact regional general managers in their respective areas to report incidents. The warning is valid from 09:00 (9 am)on Thursday, 25 March 2021 until 04:00 (4 am) on Friday, 26 March 2021.
