The Mangaung metropolitan municipality which includes the towns of Bloemfontein, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu says it is serious about improving service delivery.
Its chief whip, Zolile Mancotywa says service delivery can be accelerated by consolidating resources in a focused area. He was speaking at Botshabelo yesterday where the Mangaung metro officially launched its Letsema project.
Mancotywa says the municipality’s resources will now be used to tackle critical areas of service delivery.
"Areas of service delivery we are targeting is fixing potholes, gravelling and grading roads, honey sucking, pit latrines, as well as VIP toilets and also making sure that we remove illegal dumping sites" says Mancotywa.
He emphasized that this project would not be a "once-off thing."
"We are going to make sure we do it bi-annually so that we come back after a while; we maintain and work on what we have done up to so far" an elated Mancotywa told Bloemfontein Courant.
This Letsema project will now also be launched in Thaba Nchu and Bloemfontein in the coming months.
