In what is expected to be one of his last official speeches, Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor, Thabo Manyoni, praised his officials for what they did for the community. He addressed community members at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein, presenting his End of Term Report. The event was also screened live to venues in Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu. “The community must understand that they were blessed to have people who could serve them very well and I hope they will support the incumbent after the elections and then they will be able to work together to make Mangaung a better place,” he said. Manyoni says he is not sure where the ANC is going to take him next. This follows after the party announced MEC Olly Mlamleli as its mayoral candidate for the metro. In an exclusive interview with OFM News this afternoon, Manyoni said he is not sure what his political future holds, but he did not deny rumours that he might just be swapped with Mlamleli. Speculations are that Manyoni’s work as mayor and his position as national chairperson of SALGA makes him best suited for the position of Cogta MEC – to help municipalities with dire financial situations. But Manyoni says nothing official has been announced yet.
