Mangaung adheres to payment plans with water board

Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metro Municipality, Olly Mlamleli

The Mangaung Metro Municipality says they are still adhering to their payment plan with the water board.
This despite allegations that Bloem Water is only supplying the metro with limited bulk water supply due to their outstanding debts and inconsistent payments.
Executive Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, told OFM News that the metro has developed a turnaround strategy to improve the provision of service delivery which includes ensuring that service providers are paid and payments are made to the water board.
She says that this document, which outlines the metro’s plan of action in terms of debt payments, revenue collection, and attraction of investors is soon going to be tabled in council. Mlamleli further appeals to the provincial government and communities to settle their accounts to enable the municipality to provide adequate services.
Mlamleli says they are currently working with the National and Provincial Treasury, as well as with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of residents.
“My view is that whoever owes must pay, and whoever is being owed must be paid,” said Mlamleli. – KATLEHO MORAPELA/OFM News
