The Free State police spokesperson Sergeant Martin Xuma says Lefa Ephraim Ntsoeu learned a valuable lesson on Thursday that one must never bite the hand that feeds you.
Xuma says the 19-year-old man from Manyatseng near Ladybrand was sentenced at the Ladybrand Regional court to six years’ imprisonment for attempted rape.
“Magistrate Koekemoer found him guilty for trying to rape a 44-year-old woman in 2012. It was on 10 October 2012 when the accused was with his friend. They went to ask for food from the relatives of his friend. They were given food and left,” he says.
Xuma says later on that day the 44-year-old woman went out to lock the gate and noticed the same man she had given food. “She asked her what he wanted. “The accused pushed her to the ground and tried to rape her. She called for help. “Her neighbours heard her screams and rescued her and the young man ran away,” he says.
Xuma says Ntsoeu was arrested the following day by the Ladybrand FCS (Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences) and the case was handed to Constable Sootho Litabe for further investigation.
“Ladybrand Cluster Commander Colonel Abram Raliopane applauded the Ladybrand FCS Unit for ensuring that sexual offenders do not have a space in his cluster,” says Xuma.
