Man hospitalised after fire

DUANE PETRUS – The mother of the Bloemfontein man whose house caught fire in Fichardt Park this morning says she is shocked at what happened but glad no one is seriously injured.
Petro Smith says she received a phone call at around 07:30 this morning about the fire at Tjoppies Pitter’s house.
When she arrived, the fire department was already there and her son had been taken to hospital.
His wife and two children had been taken to a place of safety.
The fire department’s Bram van Zyl says further investigation will reveal what caused the fire that started in the spare room of the house.
Van Zyl says the fire was already at an advanced stage when they arrived and had started spreading to the corridor when they started putting it out.
