Duane Petrus – A Free State man accused of raping 16 boys, whom he coached soccer, made his second appearance in the Heilbron Magistrate’s Court today.
Police spokesperson, Sellwane Mapamela, says the alleged rapes took place in a shack in the 33-year-old’s backyard in Oranjeville near Sasolburg.
The victims are aged between 13 and 16. She says the man apparently threatened the victims with witchcraft and murder if they said anything.
Mapemela says a number outraged community members were also present at the court and they have demanded that the accused should remain in jail.
The case has been postponed to 28 March for a formal bail application.
