Maluti-A-Phofung worried about illegal occupation of land

The Maluti-A-Phofung municipality is worried about residents who occupy land illegally.

Residents say enough is enough, as they’ve requested unoccupied land for too long from the municipality without success.

Speaking to OFM News, executive mayor Masetjhaba Mosia-Lakaje said she isn’t aware of residents who have claimed unoccupied land illegally.

She adds however that her office will investigate, and if it turns out to be true, the municipality will follow the correct procedures on dealing with them.

She added the municipality would like to discourage residents to build their own houses wherever they want, as this may be a serious problem in future – they won’t be able to get access to service delivery.
