Makgoe to table #FSeducation budget while schools are without resources

Free State Education MEC, Tate Makgoe,
The Free State Education MEC, Tate Makgoe, will today come under fire during the tabling of his 2018/19 budget in a Legislature sitting to be held in Welkom.

This, as he will need to explain why subsidies have not been paid to schools, despite his department having been allocated the biggest chunk of the provincial budget earlier this year.

OFM News this week reported on a number of schools in Bloemfontein who sit in the dark as their electricity has been cut-off by Centlec due to none payment of millions of rands by the department.

Among other issues facing the province, Makgoe will also need to address the question of on-going infrastructure backlog, lack of resources and teachers.

The EFF in the province has already announced that it expects Makgoe to specify exactly how he plans to spend his more than R13.5 billion for the 2018/19 financial year.
