Makgoe encourages teachers to take part in National Teaching Awards

Free State Department of Education MEC, Dr Tate Makgoe.

Free State Department of Education MEC, Dr Tate Makgoe has called on all teachers in the province to enter for the 2019 National Teaching Awards (NTA) competition, which is now in its 20th year.

“I know for sure the province has the best teachers in the country and even in the world,” said Makgoe, who uses the province’s academic performance as a yardstick for excellence.

Teachers can access forms at their different schools, districts offices and on the National Department of Basic Education website.

The awards are one of the best tools used to recognise and reward hard working, excellent teachers in the country. “The best assets of any organization is their human resources, and so are teachers for the Free State Department of Education,” said Makgoe.

He added that it is his belief that by not participating, teachers are doing themselves an injustice.

The Closing date for the NTA is 02 August 2019.
