Major upgrade planned for Phuthaditjhaba road

An amount of R26 million has been invested by the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality in the Free State in order to develop Motebang Road, which is one of the biggest and busiest roads in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwaqwa.

The road passes in front of Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital and is classified as the backbone of the town’s economy.

The municipal manager, Kadimo Masenkoane, says that the road will be extended about 1.8 km from the Crescent Mall, which will also be developed. He says the reason for the development is to accommodate more cars and allow pedestrians to walk freely. He further stated that overcrowding becomes a serious challenge during the holidays.

Masenkoane told OFM News that the project will take two years to complete and more people residing in the municipal area will also be employed. Furthermore, he mentioned that everything has been finalised which means that the project will commence soon.
