In a bizarre twist to the unfolding saga, Craig Thiem, the parent who blew the whistle on suspected racism at the Wilgehof Primary School in Bloemfontein, is seeking comfort and support from Free State Premier, Ace Magashule.
It has been established that Magashule is assisting Thiem from his allege “problems” of being treated as an outcast by his community. Magashule’s spokesperson Oupa Khoabane says Thiem visited ANC offices last week and was also seen this Monday.
He says the matter is still being discussed. “We fully understand what he’s going through that as a result of those activities, he has been victimised by some people. The government is trying to assist him in many things, for example schooling for his children and other challenges. We trying as much as possible in assisting him to recover those challenges,” he says.
Thiem says he says he has been adviced not to speak to the media. Since his racism exposure against teacher Leonard Mackay last June, he was accused of shoplifting and expelled from his “Christian Community” group.
