Free State Education MEC, Dr Tate Makgoe wishes Bloemfontein Courant many more years of good quality, credible and newsworthy content. This as Dr Makgoe also celebrates a decade as the MEC of the department during which learners in the province have consistently excelled.
During his term the MEC has stated that the Free State department made “education fashionable” through mass media learning such as radio revision programmes amongst other interventions. “Free State Department of Education congratulates Bloemfontein Courant which is celebrating 10 years of existence,” said Dr Makgoe.
“The paper has also maintained journalism ethics and reported news from education to entertainment without favour or biasness but objectively. In this age where fake news could be generated within a minute, good standards in the field should be recognised,” he added.
Makgoe explained that Courant has been able to move with the times exceptionally well. “The papers has also succeeded in evolving especially the convergence of the ‘New Media’ with so many technological developments of the fourth industrial revolution by having an online version,” he said.
“This might be simple in the eyes of the reader who gets a weekly dose of news, but the blood and sweat behind the production team cannot be ignored,” elaborated Makgoe.
“As much as I am looking forward to another term in education, I wish Bloemfontein Courant the best and hope the paper celebrates many years to come. Happy Ten Year Anniversary!” said the MEC.
