Professional artist and song writer, Corné Cloete who recently released her debut album, is making her mark in the music industry.
In an interview with Bloemfontein Courant the pop-country commercial artist said music has always been part of her life and she started singing in school choirs from a tender age. She continued her singing when she joined university acapella groups like the Freestate Singers and played lead roles in musicals lsuch as Judas Iscariot in the Sand du Plessis Theatre.
Cloete, who has been signed with 2Tone Records since 2019, has not only been doing numerous events across Central SA but also recently released her first album, titled Wie is jy? “There are 15 songs on the album of which eight are brand new and have been written by myself and other local writers,” said Cloete.
Apart from performing all over SA, Cloete also juggles being a mom and being employed full time. “Being supported by the local people is key. If we as local artists aren’t supported by them, we cannot live our dream and be a musician full time,” said Cloete.
Her plans for 2020 include releasing another album as well as writing a lot of new material and doing more shows.
According to her manager, André de Jager, since Corné was signed by his record label, she has excelled with her singing and songwriting skills. “Her live shows are something to experience. Her voice is just as good live as on her CD,” concluded De Jager.
Cloete will be performing this coming Friday, 7 February 2020, at the Bloem Nite Market at Urth Lifestyle Farm. Cloete will also be joined by well-known Bfn artist, Daniel Wesley.
