The recently launched #CoronaConcerts has been a huge hit and has provided for many local artists during these trying times. These artists now need music lovers to help them not reach the plateau.
The online concerts not only entertained many South Africans during the beginning of the national lockdown but also helped put food on the table for many full-time artists. According to crowned modern country singer, Daniel Wesley Africa, who is the founder of the platform, they need the support of listeners now more than ever.
“We understand that everyone is going through tough times and some have to rebuild their businesses. After being able to help out a bunch of artists financially for the first 2-3 weeks, it seems like the concerts are currently reaching the plateau. A lot of people started doing live stream videos on Facebook just for fun and this has resulted in artists losing a lot of support,” said Wesley.
According to him, this has helped a lot of local artists and it would help a lot if they could get the platform on the right track again. The first #CoronaConvert was hosted on 20 March 2020 and had artists like Daniel Wesley Africa, Francois Bouwer, Zak Steyn, LIV DIE, Amy Aldeia, Belinda van Zee, Hilton Crest, Benn, Karoo, Leon, Wietz, Jacobus Silwer, Tiaan Kussman and many more.
Wesley has also invited business to help by coming on board as a sponsor for a show where the proceeds will go to struggling local artists and at the same time the platform will promote the business.
