With orders streaming in from across South Africa, 20-year-old Bloemfontein designer has fashionistas wanting more and more of his apparel. Eldy Abrams grew up in Heidedal, Bloemfontein where his fashion designing journey started in his first year at varsity. He has taken off a year of to pursue his dreams.
His clothing line, Life In Vision (LIV), was established in 2017 and has a unique theme to it. His designs can be seen worn around Bloemfontein, especially among the youth. Abrams also does custom designing, anything from T-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, trousers, bomber jackets, backpacks – you name it, he does it.
After a disagreement with his seamstress, Abrams took it upon himself to not only do the designing but also the making of the clothes himself. “The best part is the feeling I get when people wear my clothes. It’s really something special. I take pride in the response I’ve been getting from the public and at this stage I’m moving as quickly as I’m able to since it’s just me,” Abrams said.
Whilst working on his designing dreams, Abrams is also an upcoming local rapper and enjoys expressing himself through his music. “At the moment I can’t disclose too much but it’s going to have a lot to do with the clothing brand as well. I like to think of everything as one ‘cultural revolution’, mainly because it reflects on where I’m from and the people I’m around with,” Abrams concluded.
