Some days we feel as if we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. We don’t understand why we feel down and we struggle to see the light. When I experience this feeling, I come to the same conclusion: I am trying to carry my own cares.
In these times I remind myself of Matthew 11 v 28-30. “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.”(Amplified). I know it is when I try to so hard to help myself that I become tired and desperate. It is as if I think that I have relied on God enough and should give someone else an opportunity to have access to Him. But as verse 29 says, He is gentle and humble in heart and that is where my soul will find rest.
When in life we experience our yoke is hard, sharp or pressing, we should remember that God says His yoke is comfortable and pleasant and His burden is light and easy. For us to experience our burden as light, we should go to the One who will ease and refresh our souls. He is waiting for us to hand it over with complete trust and faith.
