SABRINA DEAN – Leopards Under-19 team members are undergoing counselling following the death of talented loosehead prop Kwena Collins Moremi in a drowning incident in East London at the weekend.
Leopards President Andre May says other players who were in the group that was swept out to sea and tried to help Moremi were hardest hit. He says despite attempts to charter a flight to bring the team home to Potchefstroom earlier they were only able to bring the traumatised players home on Saturday evening.
"While they were in East London we arranged for professional assistance to help them. You know some of these players were with Kwena when he was in trouble – some of them saw it, some of them didn’t see anything," he says.
"We are trying to make sure they are properly debriefed and assisted, so we tried to keep them busy there on the Saturday and when they arrived back here in Potchefstroom we immediately had professional people from the Univesrsity who received them," he says.
May says the post mortem is expected to be completed today and Moremi’s body will be returned to the North West during the week. He says a funeral is likely to be held in Limpopo at the weekend.
