The Entrepreneurial Matriculant of the Year Competition, presented by the Central University of Technology, Free State, is set to take place on 8 May 2021, where grade 11 finalists will present their business ideas to the competition panel.

This year’s competition received 68 applications and the learners were expected to submit a short business plan of an idea or a real business. Sixteen finalists were selected to take part in the final stage of the competition.

The finalists received training from CUT on all aspects of starting and running a business. They learned how to identify their target markets, manage a small business, manage operational aspects, do administration, project management, as well as financial calculations to draw up an income statement and a cash flow statement.

The learners will compete for the top 5 spots at a ceremony to be held at CUT on 8 May. The 5 finalists will win cash prizes between R5000 and R20000.
