The Free State Department of Education has appealed to parents and other role players to support over 400 000 learners participating in the Annual National Assessment (ANA) tests this month.

The department’s chief education specialist, Mokgobo Thibile, says all gr. 1 to gr.6 learners and gr. 9 learners at about 1 300 schools across the province will take part in the exams.

According to him the ANA is an important process that needs to be taken seriously because it measures the country’s education system.

Thibile says the exams will take place from 16 to 19 September. It is not written in all school subjects. The focus is only on languages and mathematics.
