Learner stabbed to death outside school in NW


A grade 9 learner from the Kopanelo Secondary School has been stabbed to death on Friday, 17 January 2020, in Atamelang near Delareyville in the North West.

The police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, says the incident allegedly occurred outside the school premises after he got off the bus. She says he was rushed to a local clinic and was announced dead on arrival.

The suspect is alleged to be a 17-year-old girl. Myburgh says the girl ran away and was arrested shortly after the incident. She is expected to appear in the Atamelang Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 January 2020.

Myburgh further added that the girl is not attending any school and was not in a romantic relationship with the boy.
