Late OFM DJ, Lindsay Batteson-Kritzinger’s husband doing well in hospital

The husband of the late OFM presenter Lindsay Batteson-Kritzinger, Jake Kritzinger, is recovering well in Mediclinic Welkom after undergoing an operation last night.

He and his father, Koos, survived a car accident outside Theunissen on Saturday in which Batteson-Kritzinger and her mother-in-law, Alna, were killed.

Jake wrote on his Facebook profile this morning that last night’s operation to mend his lacerations, was a success.

His father is being treated for minor injuries. Jake announced that both families are considering holding a mutual memorial service for Batteson-Kritzinger and his mother in Bloemfontein.

A date has not been set yet. A memorial radio broadcast for Batteson-Kritizinger will take place on OFM between 9:00 and 10:00 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the driver of the Toyota Tazz who sped off after crashing into the bakkie the family was travelling in, appeared in the Theunissen Magistrate’s court yesterday on charges of culpable homicide, fleeing a crime scene and driving without a licence.

Phaga Nyela will be back in court on 18 March.

He allegedly travelled in the wrong lane after overtaking another vehicle.  In an effort to avoid the collision, the bakkie overturned. Nyela sped off and the car was later found abandoned in a local township.
