The Mangaung Metro Mayor, Thabo Manyoni, describes the late deputy mayor of Mangaung, Connie Rampai, as a highly experienced person with regards to municipal matters and now they have lost that experience.
Rampai died in a fatal vehicle accident early Saturday morning on the N1 between Winburg and Verkeerdevlei. Speaking at Rampai’s home in Bloemfontein, Manyoni indicated that her death is a great loss to the Free State Province in general.
Manyoni, along with other members of the ANC provincial leadership, including the Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, Mamiki Qabathe, visited Rampai’s household today (Monday) to pay their respects. Manyoni says Rampai was a people’s person.
“I must also indicate that, also a person, Connie was caring and a people’s person. She was a person who could work with other people, even those who might be less fortunate than her. During this time where leaders are seen to be arrogant and are not necessarily seen to be caring, we needed people like her, to be able to work with our communities.”
