Ladybrand farm attack suspects arrested

Three suspects have been arrested following a farm attack on the Borneo farm in the Free State town of Ladybrand.

Police spokesperson, Phumelelo Dlamini, says a 43-year-old farm worker got killed during the attack on the farm nearby the Lesotho border. He says one of the three suspects is receiving medical attention, under police protection, in the local hospital after he was shot in the shoulder. The suspect was allegedly shot by his accomplices during a fight over items robbed from the farm house.

Dlamini says Nkolobetse Johannes Mofoti, who was shot dead during the robbery at around 11:00, was alone in the house when four suspects allegedly forced their way in and shot him dead before they forced the safe open. The suspects allegedly stole two handguns, two rifles and an undisclosed amount of money along with some clothes.  Dlamini says, so far, the police have launched a manhunt for the fourth suspect who is still at large.

OFM News reported earlier this month about an attack on the Dankieskuil farm in Hertzogville. Seven suspects attacked and held two of the three farm workers at gunpoint and tied them up with shoelaces while the third managed to free himself and ran away. The police have appealed to anyone who might have information about the suspect to contact the crime stop number at 0860010111.
