South African singer Kurt Darren was this morning transferred from the intensive care unit to the emergency service unit following an accident he was involved in this weekend.
Darren was a passenger with two other people in a car that rolled and landed in a ditch in Kameelfontein outside Pretoria.
He is being treated at the Netcare Milpark Hospital after he broke eight ribs and is experiencing problems with his short-term memory.
His manager, Louis van Wyk, says there is no brain damage and he suffered no internal bleeding.
"He will be transferred to a general ward soon. We’re holding thumbs that he will be discharged by next week Monday, maybe Tuesday. Things are looking better altogether."
Darren’s wife, Dunay, returned to the country this morning. She cancel a cruise in Europe to be by her husband’s side.
Darren was to perform at the Vryfees in Bloemfontein this week, but his shows have been cancelled due to the accident.
