Krugersdrift Dam angling area closed until March 2016

The angling area at Krugersdrift Dam has been closed
to the public due to vandalism of ablution blocks,
which resulted in faecal coliforms and E.coli derived
from human sewage.
It will remain closed until the end of March next year.
However, the Department of Economic, Small
Business Development, Tourism and Environmental
Affairs in the Free State has confirmed that the
Soetdoring Resort on the Bultfontein Road is still
open for overnight accommodation and angling.
Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts can still enjoy
fishing and camping on the Olive Hill side of the
resort. Day visitors are also welcome from 07:00 to
The department’s Kgotso Tau says the presence of
faecal coliforms and E.coli cannot be tested due to
the current drought and resulting low dam levels. He
says testing can only be done once there has been
sufficient rainfall in the area.

Simwinji can be contacted on 051-433-9002.
