Kroonstad CCTV cameras installation plans delayed

REFILWE MEKOA

Plans to install CCTV cameras in Moqhaka Municipality have been delayed.

According to Mayor Jihad Mohapi, they still need to hold more discussions before the project can be implemented. He says CCTV cameras were supposed to be installed last Friday to keep check on the law and order situation in Kroonstad. Mohapi told Courant that he was involved in an accident on Friday and this is one of the reasons for the delay.

He says he is still recovering from the incident and the municipality will only know by next week when the “Safe Town Project” kicks off. Mohapi says the cameras were expected to help the Traffic Department and Police check on traffic violations, especially big trucks that are not allowed to park in town at night.
