A few University of the Free State (UFS) athletes stood on the podium at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Cross Country Championships.
According to Kovsie Sport, the athletes claimed four medals at the national championships at the Nelson Mandela University Sports Grounds. They claimed gold and three bronze medals.
Kovsie Sport said that a staff member Moorosi Soke (men’s 40 years 8km) took home a gold medal to be crowned national champion in his category.
“Soke finished first in a time of 25:23. The UFS athletes Kirsti Bell (senior women’s 10km) and Lizandré Mulder (senior women’s 2km) both won bronze. Bell was third in 38:12 in her race, with Mulder also finishing third in 7:04 in her event,” said Kovsie Sport.
“The UFS first-year Carrissa Erasmus was part of the Free State U19 6km team that also won a bronze medal at the ASA Cross Country Championships,” they added.
