The University of the Free State Kovsies suffered their first defeat of the 2024 Varsity Netball on Sunday after falling just short against the surprise package of the tournament, the University of Johannesburg.

UJ made another big statement in the tournament in Gqeberha by beating the team from Bloemfontein 51-46 in a thrilling round match at the Madibaz Sports Centre.
Kovsies managed to bounce back on Monday afternoon with a hard-fought win against the University of Stellenbosch Maties in round four. Kovsies took the game 56-45 to move up to third on the log.

The North-West University did themselves as well as Kovsies a big favour by edging the defending champions, the University of Pretoria Tuks 62-61. Tuks dropped down to second on the log, while UJ are the only unbeaten team remaining and lead the standings with 16 points.

Round five gets underway at 15:00 on Monday afternoon at the Rembrandt Hall in Pretoria with the Madibaz in action against Kovsies. At 17:00, Tuks will play against Maties, while at the same time Wits are in action against TUT. At 19:00 NWU will be in action against UJ.
