The Kovsies Football Club held their annual year-end function recently where Sello Diphoko was named as the Most Valuable Player of the Year of the men’s team, while the captain of the ladies, Mating Monokoane, as well as Nqobile Gansa, were the joint recipients on the MVP accolade for the women’s team.

Diphoko, who played in his maiden season for Kovsies, starred for the team during the 2022 Varsity Football tournament in Pretoria, and his on-field contribution played a big part in the team reaching the final for the first time. He was named as the Player of the Tournament and also had the honour of winning the Golden Boot.

In her turn, the midfielder, Monokoane, was recently called-up to the Lesotho Women’s national team.

Gansa, who was also playing her maiden season for Kovsies, was the leading goal scorer and helped her team to a staggering 111 goals during the SASOL League.

The versatile Sisopo Nxasana was named as the Players’ Player of the Season.

Thandolwethu Khoza was named as the Most Improved Men’s Player while Sesethu Malitshe was honoured as the Most Improved Women’s Player.
