Kovsies denies that JBM committee members moved out over renewal process

Christal-Lize Muller

The University of the Free State has denied rumours that various house committee members at the JBM Hertzog Hostel on the Bloemfontein campus moved out because they are dissatisfied with the renewal process at the hostel.
Spokesperson for the university, Lacea Loader, says two members did indeed resign from the committee in February mainly because of academic and personal reasons. She also admits that a small number of hostel residents did move out of the hostel during the past few weeks and the university respects their decision.
Loader says apart from this the UFS is more excited about the remaining residents who completely support the renewal process.
Loader further did not want to comment on rumours that various role players are unhappy with the manner in which Dean of Student Affairs, Rudi Buys, conducts student affairs.
This comes after an informed source told Courant that some role players demand his resignation.
