Kaizer Chiefs and Mangaung Metro give back to community at Jean Webber

Kaizer Chiefs, Toyota, and the Mangaung Metro have collaborated to reach out to the community in Bloemfontein for their upcoming match.

The outreach programme was in the spirit of Mandela Month and to spend more time within the Bloemfontein community.

“We decided to come here today to Jean Webber House, alongside our partner Toyota, to give back to the communities that actually support us,” said marketing manager Bafana Sibiye.

The outreach included a house tour, socialising with the players, and having lunch together.

At the end of the event, they handed out gift bags to all the residents and staff at Jean Webber House. They also donated two months’ groceries, new uniforms for the caregivers, including winter jackets, Jojo tanks for rain harvesting, and two computers to support them with everyday work.

“Today, we are here as a club, as Kaizer Chiefs, as part of our Toyota Cup around Bloemfontein. We’re very excited to come here and play the inaugural Toyota Cup in front of many of our fans, whom we haven’t seen in a long time.”

“It’s quite exciting for us, we really enjoy giving back and being part of the communities that have supported us all these years. So I think it would be an injustice for us to come here and not actually show appreciation.”

This is part of a larger project that the club wants to continue within all communities supporting them.

The MMC for Waste and Fleet Management attended the event on behalf of Mayor Gregory Nthatisi.

The event aims to create a bond between the community and the players who attended, as well as give back to those in need.
