K9 commander’s response leads to swift arrest

A member of the South African Police Services acted swiftly in arresting a wanted rape suspect earlier this week. A Welkom K9 commander who prefers to remain anonymous, was attending a meeting and received a call about a possible bank heist at one of the malls situated in Welkom.

The commander responded rapidly to the call and mobilised all required units. Once the commander and unit arrived, it was then discovered that this was a lover’s tiff in the bank and the 30-year-old male was seen assaulting the 28-year-old female.

Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed that the 30-year-old male is a wanted suspect and a warrant for his arrest for the alleged rape in Welkom back in January 2023 was issued.

“The suspect was arrested and detained for assault and rape,” concluded Kareli.
