Bloemfontein residents will once again enjoy the joyful voices of Joyous Celebration this month as the renowned gospel choir ends off their tour in the City of Roses. This time the show will be a magical night under the stars at the Rose Garden, Loch Logan Waterfront on Saturday 23 November 2019.

Bloemfontein Courant spoke to a few members of Joyous Celebration who expressed their excitement to be back and perform for their great number of local fans. “We are closing off our tour right here in Bloemfontein so they must be ready to put on their dancing shoes. Our tours are never the same but we will be giving our best, as we always do,” said one of the singers, Andiswa Mbantsa.

During this tour, the group has been giving live performances of their latest album, Joyous 23, but the artists expressed that fans may just be in store for songs that have never been heard before. “Every instalment has new songs, so now we are on Joyous 23, but since we have already started rehearsing, we may just give people a taste of Joyous 24 as well,” said Khaya Sibenyoni.

Joyous Celebration has been a musical favourite of South Africans from all walks of life but remains rooted in the Christian faith, which is reflected in their tour theme. “The show will be out of this world and this year’s theme is The Rock, because God is our rock. He gives us the impact that we need to keep performing better and better each year,” said Nwabisa Meth.

Free State’s own Andiswa Mbantsa, who is currently the oldest member of the dynamic group, expressed that touring has been a both a learning and amazing experience. “It has been great and all of the shows have been sold out. The support from all over South Africa has been great,” she said.

Newcomer Jessie Lottering expressed her happiness to finally be part of the group after auditioning for the past eight years. “I have been in Joyous Celebration for over a month now and I have already been able to build beautiful relationships. I have been a part of the show in Pretoria and it was amazing so I’m looking forward to everything that is to come,” she said.
