Join the SPCA and make a difference

The Bloemfontein SPCA has made a call to locals who are passionate about animals to join the organisation in order to make a difference.

The SPCA’s intern programme is for individuals aged between 18 to 25 years old who will have the opportunity to pursue a career as an SPCA inspector. The duration of this internship will be for a year.

“As an intern at the Bloemfontein SPCA, you will receive comprehensive in-house and practical training, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a dedicated animal welfare professional,” the SPCA said.

  • Age: 18-25 years
  • Passion for animals and learning
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Matric certificate
  • Valid driver’s license


  • Upfront payment: R24,000 per year or monthly payment: R2,500

Additional fees:

  • Trainee inspector uniform: R3 000 – Uniform can be purchased from Bloemfontein SPCA. Additional uniform can be purchased during the year at Bloemfontein SPCA, if necessary
  • Guest house accommodation and meals for 12 days in Alberton at the end of the course for the final exam.
  • Animal Welfare Assistant registration fees of R1800.
  • Study materials – R200 per month.
  • Additional courses – depending on the course. Optional
