Jagersfontein accident claims learner’s life

The Free State Department of Education has expressed their condolences after a learner in Jagersfontein was hit by a mine truck in the mining area yesterday.

According to the department, the learner passed on at the scene of the accident. It is alleged that he and other boys were jumping on and off the truck until the deceased fell and was hit by an oncoming truck.

“We are hurt by the accident which occurred where a Grade 5 learner from Boaramelo Primary School was hit by a truck,” says the Acting Head of Department, Sam Mokgobo.

The Department will furthermore provide support and counselling to the bereaved family, affected educators and learners.
