Interstate Bus Lines Sun to Sun Half Marathon 2014

Interstate Bus Lines will be sponsoring the annual IBL Sun to Sun Half Marathon presented by the Young Generations Athletic Club in Thaba Nchu on 02 August 2014.

There will be 21.1km (half marathon) race and will start at Black Mountain (Previously known as Thaba Nchu Sun) to Mmabana Stadium – opposite Naledi Sun. There will also be a Mob run (Fun run). Free bus transport will be provided from Central Park and Preller Square at 05h45, Mmabana Stadium to Black Mountain Hotel departing at 07h15.

This race will be presented according to the rules of Athletics South Africa (ASA / IAAF). The entry forms are available at Central Park – Help desk office (Mon – Fri at 06h00 – 08h00 and 14h00 – 18h00) and at Young Generations Club in Thaba Nchu. Entry forms are also available on IBL Website (www.interstate.co.za). On Friday before the race, registrations will be from 16h00 – 18h00 at Central Park. On the morning of the race, registrations will be from 06h00 at Black Mountain Hotel and Mmabana Stadium.

Prizes to be won are as follows; 21km (Senior – Men & Women) 1st Prize = R1 500, 2nd Prize = R1 000, 3rd Prize = R750, 4th Prize = R500, 5th Prize = R300, plus Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the top five winners. Age Group 40 – 49yrs: 1st Prize = R600, 2nd Prize = R400. Age group 50 – 59yrs: 1st Prize R400, 2nd Prize R300. Age Group 60+ yrs: 1st Prize R300. Juniors 1st Prize R600, 2nd Prize R400 and 3rd Prize R200.

The first 300 athletes for the half marathon will receive medals, as well as the first 50 participants in the Mob run (Fun run). The Mob runners and spectators will qualify for the Lucky draw and 10 prizes can be won.

IBL aims to hold this marathon annually for the local athletes, commuters and the community at large as a CSI Project in the BBT (Botshabelo, Bloemfontein and Thaba Nchu) area. Our intention is to develop and nurture athletes in Mangaung and Free State to prepare them to become national / international athletes.
