Two Bloemfontein locals have their sights set on making a difference within the community through the launch of their new competition, Mr and Miss Influencer Free State. The event will be held for the first time this year.

Arthur Browne, an owner of the event and the managing director of V-Models in Bloemfontein, says the competition focuses on making a difference in the lives of the contestants and on creating exposure for emerging local businesses. Jaco-Louw Wolmarans, an events coordinator and co-owner of the event, says the competition focuses on boosting the community, affecting job development, and giving local businesses the opportunity to reach their full potential.
“We didn’t just want to run a pageant like before, we wanted to take initiative and be creative. Finalists will have their own charity cause. As an organization, our main causes are employment/unemployment and education. We decided that a portion of the funds that will be collected will be donated to a local, upcoming business,” says Browne.

Wolmarans says, “The winner of the competition will have an interview with their business of choice and if that business wants to apply, it needs to submit a proposal to us. We then decide which business has the best concept and who had the best interview. Once the business is selected, the influencer will work for that business for a year, helping with marketing and taking that business further.”
