Five different drama groups from various districts within the Free State will be taking part in the Incubator Programme presented by the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs), which started on 19 November 2020 and will continue until 23 November 2020.
The initiative, which was funded by the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, is presented to nurture and promote the work of semi-skilled arts practitioners across the country.
The five drama groups involved in the programme were supported by experienced facilitators who were assigned to coach and fine-tune the productions over a twelve week period. After months of hard work and intense training, the participants will finally get to showcase their productions on various stages at Pacofs this week.
While one performance from each group will be live streamed from 19 to 23 November 2020, the groups are expected to showcase their productions in their home towns from 24 to 30 November 2020.
“The key to creativity is inspiration. We believe that by creating an enabling environment for the skills development of our local artists, and aiding them with support and guidance from industry experts, they will be inspired and encouraged to pursue a passion-filled career in the performing arts.
“With due consideration and adherence to the Covid-19 regulations and protocols, we would like to invite the local creative community to attend the shows at no cost at the various Pacofs venues,” said Meshack Xaba, Artistic Director of Pacofs.
