In July, Bloemfontein Courant reported that a few exciting things are coming to the City of Roses, one of which includes an ice rink.

According to Chillzone Ice Arena’s Dave Draper, due to unforeseen circumstances, the opening of the ice rink has been delayed until the end of the year or early next year. Bloemfontein Courant previously reported that the ice rink will be opening at the Windmill Centre where the bowling alley used to be. The ice rink was set to open at the end of September.

“We have negotiated with the Windmill Centre to keep the venue available for us until then. They are committed to having an ice rink at the centre,” he says.

Draper previously told the publication that the venue is ideal for an ice rink, as it has an enclosed mezzanine overlooking the ice, allowing parents and friends to watch their children and friends while they enjoy a hot or cold drink.

Keep an eye on Chillzone’s Instagram and Facebook pages for updates about the new opening date.
