Human skeleton found: Free State police require assistance from the community

The Free State police are urging the community to assist them with the identity of a human skeleton.

The skeleton was discovered by construction workers last Friday next to the N1 road near Verkeerdevlei. Police spokesperson Ikobeng Hlubi says the police were summoned to the scene where they found a still clothed human skeleton in black All Star sneakers and a pair of blue jeans.

“At this stage it is still unknown for how long the deceased was lying next to the road. We are waiting for the laboratory results, to determine the estimated date of death. We are further calling upon anyone who might have reported a family member missing or who has information about the circumstances surrounding the death of the person to contact their nearest police station or the investigating officer of this case, Detective Sergeant Zachariah Nzintshe,on 051 841 8401 or 082 479 2337,” said Hlubi.
