The Oliewenhuis Art Museum will be opening up their Kiddies Holiday Workshops from 5 to 8 July.
Parents are encouraged to register their children to be part of the exciting Young Visionaries workshops.
According to the Museum, the activities they will be engaging in will focus on the enjoyment of experimenting and exploring different styles and mediums while creating something. Each day will consist of an activity, fun play time and a free African Carousel ride.
Here is the programme:
Day 1 – Tuesday, 5 July: Express yourself! Boost your holiday with this fun activity. Bring your own plain white t-shirt for some tie-dyeing fun. For the second activity, you will create your own picture frame. The frame will be created out of braai sticks, a creative way to make fun decorations for your home.
Day 2 – Wednesday, 6 July: Have you ever created a quilt? Come try it out. Spend the day weaving and creating your own quilt using coloured paper. We will use the finished quilt to create something new… either a bag or a basket.
Day 3 – Thursday, 7 July: Enjoy the day by experimenting with printmaking. By using coloured paper, ink and linoleum you will create your favourite cartoon character and animals. The linoleum will be used to carve out the cartoon and the ink will be applied to the linoleum in order to print it on coloured the paper.
Day 4 – Friday, 8 July: Recycling is awesome! Learn through having fun. Come and create your own puppets by using recycled materials. For this activity we will use boxes to cut out your favourite pet, decorate it and put strings on it to create the movement of a puppet.
Parents are also encouraged to ensure that your child brings lunch and snacks to the workshop.
Booking is essential as only a limited number of participants can be accommodated. For additional information and bookings contact Oliewenhuis Art Museum at 051 011 0525 (ext 200) or email@example.com.
