Hobhouse man’s case moved to regional court



Johan Askevold from Hobhouse who appeared before the town’s Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday) had his case moved to the Ladybrand Regional Court.

The Free State businessman faces a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly shot a 26-year-old Lesotho citizen. Malefetsane Mokhosi was allegedly reprimanded by Sampie van Rooyen for letting his cattle graze in an open area and after warning him to leave, a chase ensued which led to the shooting.

Askevold was granted R5000 bail and his .38 revolver was confiscated and taken for ballistic tests.

The case will presume on February 24th.
